Job Title Manager, Instructional Design
Summary

Full-time, administrative position will provide leadership in the application of instructional design theories and methodologies designed to help faculty build and facilitate quality online and hybrid courses. Works closely with faculty to ensure their online and hybrid courses and instructional content and assessments reflect best practices in online course design, accessibility standards, and copyright policies.

Job Description

Responsibilities: (1) Support faculty in the development of new online and hybrid courses; (2) Support faculty who review and revise existing online and hybrid courses; (3) Participate in quality assurance course checks prior to the start of each semester and share feedback with faculty; (4) Work closely with the Assistant Director of Online to design and offer professional development opportunities to help faculty be effective online instructors; (5) Research and suggest emerging technologies to support online instruction; (6) Support pilot studies which impact online learning initiatives; (7) Help faculty determine if their instructional content and assessments align with course learning objectives and guidelines for accessibility and applicable copyright laws; (8) Participate in special e-learning projects as assigned. (9) Serve as a liaison between On-Line learning and Computer Services and the Center for Teaching & Learning. (10) Perform other responsibilities, as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Organizational Relationships: (1) Responsible to the Director of Online Learning for performance of assigned responsibilities; (2) Work collaboratively with Computer Services and Center for Teaching & Learning staff; (3) Work closely with faculty and staff; (4) Relate to College and department goals; (5) Function as an active member of the College’s administrative team.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology or related field from a regionally accredited Institution required. Master’s degree in instructional design is preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: (a) broad understanding of learning theory and instructional design models; (b) demonstrated ability to evaluate online and hybrid courses using instructional design standards; c) competencies in technologies (e.g., learning management systems, web conferencing tools) used to build and facilitate online and hybrid courses; (d) competent in accessibility standards and copyright law as it pertains to content used in online and hybrid courses; (e) organizational, communicative, and leadership skills.

Experience: Professional work experience as an instructional designer in an educational setting is strongly preferred. Prior teaching experience within a higher education setting is desirable
